Nike Air Max Origins
Nike’s revolutionary Air-Sole unit made its way into Nike footwear in 1978. In 1987, the Nike Air Max 1 debuted with visible air in its heel, allowing fans more than just the feel of Air-Sole comfort—suddenly they could see it. Since then, next-generation Nike Air Max shoes have become a hit with athletes and collectors by offering striking color combinations and reliable, lightweight cushioning.
Nike Air Max 720 “Hot Lava” Features Crimson Splatter Print
Nike’s big bubbled poster boy, the Air Max 720, is continuing its reign on current store shelves with yet another transformative colorway, tapping the brand’s love for paint splatter in a perfect blend of black and orange. The upper’s synthetic and various hardshell molds are left largely untouched as their dark visage add perfect contrast to the rest of the kit. Tongues, in their slight shimmering finish, add a small warm-toned note of branding with that same shade finding its way throughout the speckles aimlessly scattered across the slight translucence of the brand’s patented cushioning. Grab a detailed look at the 720’s upcoming entry below and be sure to find them at select retailers as well as Nike.com very soon.
Nike Air Max 720 BE TRUE Honors Gilbert Baker’s Rainbow Flag
For years, Nike’s annual recognition and celebration of Pride month has delivered inspired capsules of footwear and apparel, decorated in colorful arrays represented Gilbert Baker’s artistic and vibrant interpretation of the movement. For the upcoming month, Nike will once again deliver their BE TRUE assortment that honors the LGBT community with several styles – one being 2019’s newly launched Air Max 720. Seen here for the first time, the Air Max 720 BE TRUE features a full rainbow gradient on the upper with the motto boldly printed on the heel pull-tabs, while Baker’s signature is featured on the rear heel of the 720 Max unit. Other silhouettes in Nike’s 2019 BE TRUE collection include the Air Max 90, Pegasus 35 Turbo, Tailwind, and more.
More Gradient Effects Appear On The Nike Air Max 720
Nike’s Air Max 720 and gradient detailing certainly see eye-to-eye, as over its brief history on the market the 720 has already taken on a veritable medley of bold and colorful fades. Now, yet another pair has joined the eye-catching slate of offerings: a hot red to cool blue makeup. The toebox and forefoot are all high-temperature, but give way to a more gradual purplish red towards the midfoot before fading to chilled-out blue accents towards the collar and heel. Black trim and overlays provide further contrast, while branding is offered via an Air Max badge on the tongue and a red Swoosh on the black plastic midfoot clip. Down below, the 720’s signature bulbous cushioning unit mixes a clear bubble with red detailing, and a black outsole completes the look. These maximalist Air Maxes are available now on Nike.com for $180 USD, so scoop a pair up if you’re looking to add some extra flair to your summer sneaker rotation.
This Black Nike Air Max 720 Features Loud Volt Accents
Nike’s recent comfort poster boy, the Air Max 720, has yet to let up on its many releasing colorways, adding in a stealth-like scheme of full black next to accents loud in their iconic Volt hue. While that lighter tone is used sparingly — only showing up along the tongue branding, heel tab, and miniature swooshes — a matte black informs the rest of the construction, creating dimension only through its open knit weave and debossed detailing. Hardshell support molds throughout opt for a much glossier sheen, complimenting the foxing and slight glisten of the surrounding air unit. Grab a detailed look at the pair below and expect to find them rolling out to select retailers now and Nike.com shortly.
